This isn't the first time BVLGARI and MB&F have joined forces. Their first collaboration in 2021, the MB&F x BVLGARI LM FlyingT Allegra, was a dazzling fusion of BVLGARI’s gemstone artistry with MB&F’s mechanical ingenuity. Encouraged by its success, they set their sights on reimagining BVLGARI’s most iconic symbol—the Serpenti.
THE SERPENTI REBORN: A BOLD METAMORPHOSIS
Serpenti, a timeless icon of transformation and rebirth, undergoes a revolutionary transformation in the hands of these creative masterminds. Unlike anything before it, this Horological Machine required a complete reengineering—both in mechanical movement and case construction—to bring this serpent to life.
A DESIGN PROCESS LIKE NO OTHER
Fabrizio Buonamassa Stigliani, BVLGARI’s Director of Watch Design, recalls the journey: "It may seem effortless, but the hundreds of sketches and dozens of 3D-printed models tell another story." Every curve was meticulously refined, ensuring that the watch was as mesmerizing from the front as it was from the side, back, and top—a true sculptural masterpiece.
PUSHING THE LIMITS OF WATCHMAKING
Crafting this intricate case was a nightmare of machining complexity. The serpentine curves, five sapphire crystals—including its piercing eyes—presented enormous technical challenges. Precision was paramount, as was achieving water resistance to 30 meters, a feat made possible through unparalleled engineering prowess.
A MOVEMENT THAT DEFIES CONVENTIONS
The beating heart of the Bvlgari x MB&F Serpenti is as unconventional as its design. One of the standout features? The mesmerizing revolving hour and minute domes that form the snake’s hypnotic eyes. Crafted from paper-thin aluminum for weightlessness, these domes rotate—one every 12 hours, the other every 60 minutes—bringing the serpent to life. Add to that the oversized 14mm flying balance wheel, and you have a living, breathing mechanical marvel.
